Some Beach, Somewhere and 20 K2 Drive (My Favorite Place)

When thinking about my favorite places, my mind immediately went to two places. One very specific, and the other more general.

Some Beach, Somewhere
The first place I love to be, where I find peace and joy and fun, is the beach. Any beach. Well, okay, maybe not any beach. I prefer beaches that are hot (not just warm, but hot). But honestly any beach will do. I am enchanted by the ocean. I love the sea and all the power and majesty it contains. I could spend (and have spent) hours and hours laying in the sand, jumping in the waves, and exploring sand bars. I don't get to go to the beach very often, but when I do I am reminded of just how magical the ocean can be.

20 K2 Drive, Lampe, MO 65681
This place. I could spend every day at this summer camp in the middle of the Ozarks. This is the address of Kanakuk K2, a Christian sports camp for high school students. I have had the privilege of spending every summer here for the past 3 summers, and I can't wait to be back for round 4 in the summer of 2018. While the physical location has its beauty and adventure, what makes K2 so special to me are the people that I encounter while I'm there. I love this place so dearly because it is where I made some of my best friends. It's where I met the people who encourage me, challenge me, and help me to have a stinkin blast all summer long.

  1. What beautiful pictures from your camp summer, Jessica: the sunset picture is gorgeous! Beaches and the ocean are very much a part of the geography of India and also of Sri Lanka where much of the Ramayana takes place... a famous story is how Rama build a bridge from India to Sri Lanka. Helped by monkeys! Wikipedia: Adam's Bridge / Rama's Bridge :-)

  2. Jessica, love the pictures! I actually went to Kanakuk when I was younger as well. I spent 2 summers at K Kountry and 1 at K West. I haven't been to K2, but it sounds like a blast from the way you describe it. I always stayed for 2 weeks, is this how long K2 is? And I can relate to the beach part, it really is a magical place.
