Famous Last Words: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
"All was well."
- J.K. Rowling
All was well. All is well. With everything going on as we all finish up our semesters (and for many of us, our college careers), it's important to remember that all is well. Or at least it will be eventually.
It makes me think of the motivational cat poster in The Lego Movie that says "Hang in there." It seems silly, but its true. I am so excited for the next phase of my life, but as I've mentioned before I want to continue to stay present and make the most of my last few weeks in Norman.
I had a lot of fun with this class this week. I started out on top of things and had a blast writing my assignments since I wasn't rushing through them. I was really proud of my story this week, The Idiots in the Desert. I remembered how much I love creative writing. I don't get to do it that often. My current writings are all consumed with research and analysis and blah blah blah academia. But I love that this class lets me have a little fun and exercise my creative side.
This week starts the teacher walk out. I am so proud of the way our state is coming together for such a noble cause. Even though we may disagree on politics, religion, whatever, it speaks so much to the importance of this cause that SO MANY PEOPLE are coming together for this cause. I hope each of you are planning on finding a way to support this cause. That could be through protesting at the capital, babysitting your friend's kids who have nowhere to go, or just sending encouraging messages to your old teachers. This is big. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Finish strong guys! We're so close. And remember, if Harry can go through everything he did and then still say "all is well" then we can certainly make it through college.
